Avocado is a subtropical plant which started being cultivated in Crete during the last decades, in selected areas with very mild climate. At present, organic avocados which are characterised by exquisite quality and taste, are being cultivated by approximately 10 farmers who are members of our Cooperative.
Avocado harvest usually starts in early October – depending on the weather conditions of each year – and ends in June or July. The varieties harvested first are BACON, ZUTANO and ETTINGER, followed by FUERTE and BENIK and lastly the HASS variety.
Packaging takes place in a certified centre for organic products. Packaging for export is in 4kg-boxes on europallets.
